Leading Effective Teams
Leading Effective Teams ensures that both aspiring and existing managers have the necessary skills to build and lead effective and productive teams.
Using proven, well known techniques the course equips participants with the ability to recognise their own preferred roles and the impact this has on others and, helps them identify what stage their team is currently working and what leadership style will help them maximise the potential within their team.
Who It’s Designed For
This course has been designed for aspiring and first line managers with less than 12 months experience. It is also suitable for more experienced managers who are wishing to refresh their skills. It is intended to provide a foundation of effective management skills which can be transferred immediately into the workplace.
Learning and Development Objectives
- Identify different types of teams and understand which type of team you are
- Identify your own preferred team role and style based on Belbin’s roles
- Recognise what impact your own style has on others in your team and with other external teams
- Identify barriers to communication within the team and develop tools to overcome these barriers
- Identify stages of team development and be able to state which stage your team is currently working
- Look and learn techniques which makes for high performing teams
Overview of Leading Effective Teams
This is a one day course, with some pre and post course work.
Focussing on Dr Meredith Belbin’s team roles and personality types theory, participants will be able recognise and harness people’s preferred roles within the team, as well as understanding the potential impacts their own preferred roles may have on the people around them.
Using Dr Bruce Tuckman’s Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing model, participents will be able to identify the stage where their own team is currently working and determine the most appropriate leadership style to maximise the potential within their team.
